Birds & Butterflies along the Spur

Join us for a pollinator adventure along the Monarch Spur Trail!

This walk will be led by butterfly ecologist, Sara Simonson and birder, Jacque Fisher.

Sara is a graduate student in Watershed Science at Colorado State University (CSU), and she worked as a Research Associate at CSU’s Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory for 20 years. Sara’s latest projects are focused on using biological indicators to extend historical timelines and better understand ecology in snow systems. She is also an advocate for pollinators and encouraging public participation in science.

Jacque Fisher is an avid birder whose specialty is birding by ear, recognizing our avian neighbors by their songs and calls. She has been a program leader at the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival for over twenty years with her popular program “Birding Among the Wildflowers.” Jacque’s favorite place to bird is her own backyard.
